Annual Meeting
The Annual Meeting of Thornapple Evangelical Covenant Church will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary. All members and friends are warmly encouraged to attend. Historically, annual meetings last approximately 90 minutes. Child care for children up to 3rd grade will be available. There will be light refreshments available after church for those who are staying for the meeting.
The meeting agenda will include:
Financial review of 2009
Presentation of the 2010 budget (including a vote to ratify)
Nominations for 2010 (including a vote to elect)
o Council of Elders
o Nominating Committee
o Financial Secretary
o Audit Committee
2009 Annual Report and 2010 Budget:
The 2009 Annual Report is available at the Welcome Center. It contains written reports from staff members and elders as well as the proposed 2010 budget. Please pick up a copy (one per family) and review it in preparation for the Annual Meeting.
Committee Nominations:
• Council of Elders: James Ernest, Kae Kingma, Jonathan Petersen and Terry Shoemaker
• Financial Secretary: Joe Nutt
• Nominating Committee: Susan Eastburg, Doug Lunde and Gail Mortenson
• Audit Committee: Francis Wong
Under the Bylaws, any Active Member may nominate other persons to fill any of these vacancies, but must do so by providing written notice to the Council of Elders. All nominations require the consent of the individual nominated and should be received by the Council Chairs no later than February 14, 2010.
Active members who cannot attend the meeting will be able to vote by proxy or absentee ballot. If you are an active member and cannot attend, please consider the following:
• Voting by Proxy: This method is preferred since a proxy counts toward a quorum. Please complete a proxy form and have your designee bring it to the Annual Meeting.
• Voting by Absentee Ballot: An absentee ballot does not count towards our quorum, but does enable you to vote. Absentee Ballots must be returned to the Welcome Center or church office by 11:30am on February 21.
