Note: Our Summer Schedule begins on June 8 with two worship hours at 9:00 am (contemporary) and 10:30 am (traditional).

Our current regular Sunday schedule of Worship is as follows:
* 8:25am - Contemporary
* 9:45am - Contemporary
* 11:05am - Traditional

Our regular schedule includes Christian education programs offered at the 9:45 hour for all ages:
* Promiseland for children 3 years-5th grade;
* Break Out for 6th graders;
* Foundations for kids in 7th & 8th grades;
* The Core for high school students.

Children's Worship (4 years-3rd grade) is offered during 8:25 am and 11:05 am hours.

Full nursery care is offered during each worship hour.

* Community Groups and the Discover Class are education options for adults Sundays at 9:45. For topics, please refer to the articles on the Community Group and Discovery Class page of the website.

There is no "dress code" at Thornapple - on any given Sunday morning, you will see everything from jeans and sweatshirts to jackets and ties.

Power Lab VBS is coming to Thornapple!

This summer's Vacation Bible School is July 28 to August 1. The theme is "Power Lab." Through this exciting program children will gain a new enthusiasm for God’s Word—and for Jesus! Through fun, engaging activities and science-themed surprises, we'll see amazing things happen. The delighted smiles...the memorable Bible points…they will all add up to making a life-long difference in the lives of the children!

Volunteers are needed! If you can help in any way - circle leader, station leader/helper, decorations, etc. - please contact Lynne or Lisa in the Children's Ministry office.

The Third Option is an on-going group program to build better marriages.

The sessions are the 1st and 3rd Thursdays evenings of every month from 6:30 to 8:30. The next meeting date is May 15th.

Couples can begin this class on any of the Third Option Thursday meetings. The location is: Thornapple Covenant Church Middle School room (lower level).

All couples of any age are invited to come.

Town Meeting - Sunday, May 18


There will be a Town Meeting on Sunday, May 18 at both 9:45 and 11:05.

The Elders have important business to share with the congregation. Come to hear and ask questions about current events and transition plans.

Opportunities to Pray with Others at Thornapple
Prayer
You are welcome and encouraged to come and join one of the many groups at Thornapple who devote themselves to prayer. There are numerous opportunities to join with others in prayer. Congregational prayer gatherings, life groups, mothers prayer groups and more.

The next Elder Led Prayer is Sunday, May 18 at 5 pm at church. All are welcome and encouraged to come.

Camp Creation 2008 is June 23 through 27
CAMP CREATION is a Summer Arts Camp for students completing grades 1-8. It takes place June 23-27.

The camp is designed for students to explore and nurture the relationship between the ARTS and the CHRISTIAN FAITH.

Our purpose is to encourage the development of the fine arts as we use the gifts and talents God has given to each, while working co-operatively in Christian community.

In addition, your student will be fed lunch and experience an artistic presentation or performance from a variety of artistic genre.

connecting@thornapple - June 8 and 15

connecting@thornapple is a two part class designed for people new to Thornapple Covenant Church. During the two sessions participants learn about the church, denomination and membership. It's also a great opportunity to ask questions about Thornapple.

Spring Fling to Cedar Point for 6-8th Graders
Prayer
The Spring Fling to Cedar Point for 6-8th Graders is May 30-June 1.
Kick off your summer with a trip to Cedar Point. The Maverick, the Millenium Force, Mantis, Raptor, Magnum, and Top Thrill Dragster will test your abilities to keep food down. Be sure to try the MaXair and the Sky Hawk! Plenty of games and rides for everyone. Where else do you pay to sleep on a gym floor? All these memories and more: great talks, new friends and kids from other churches. Hope to see you there.

Bhutanese Refugee Project
PARA

BHUTANESE REFUGEE INFORMATION

PARA Refugee Services, a refugee resettlement ministry of Bethany Christian Services, is inviting volunteers from Thornapple to help a refugee family adjust during their first 6 months of hope and opportunity here in Grand Rapids, after years of hardships in Bhutan and Nepal.

Alice Andrews and Ann Swagman are forming a new team of volunteers from Thornapple to minister to a refugee family. If you are interested, contact Ann or Alice for more information (see church directory).

Women's Bible Studies At Thornapple This Summer

Bible Studies will be offered this summer on Wednesdays at 9:30. Childcare is available.

There will be two Beth Moore studies and one Precepts.

The Beth Moore studies will be at Thornapple starting May 21. The topics are as follows:
1. Jesus the One and Only, Beth Moore
10-week in depth study lead by Tami DeJong

2. Get Out of That Pit, Beth Moore
10-week study lead by Celeste Tolbert

Contact Celeste Tolbert to sign up for either of the Beth Moore studies and for childcare.

Joanna Medawar will be leading a Precept study on I John beginning May 14 at 9:15. Contact Joanna to sign up for this 11-week study that will be held at her home.
