Men's Ministry Happenings

Men meet regularly on Monday mornings for breakfast at 6:30 am at church (except the 1st Monday of each month when the group meets at the Gathering Place Restaurant). Join us! Contact Kirk Mortenson if you have questions about the Monday breakfasts. His e-mail is kirk.mortenson@gfs.com.

Other Connecting Events / Activities

1. Running Club – Dust off your running shoes. Meet at church Saturdays at 7:30am starting 5/19. Two pace groups. Distance set by runners. All are welcome!  Contact Greg Longworth (gklongworth@sbcglobal.net) for more details.

2. Fishing League - If you would be interested in fishing with other men, contact Dave Baker (thebakery2000@att.net) or Terry Shoemaker (terryshoe@gmail.com).  

3. Golf League - Mondays 12 week 9 hole league June, July and August 5:44-6:00 pm @ Quail Ridge Golf Course in Ada. Contact - Chris Treiber ctreiber@me.com  

Grow/ Learn

1. Monday Morning Prayer & Sermon Discussion: join us for a bowl of cereal and coffee. Discuss Sunday's sermon and share prayer requests and pray as a group for each other and our church. Contact : Kirk Mortenson at kirk.mortenson@gfs.com.  

2. BSF Bible Study Fellowship. 450 men from many local churches meet Tuesday nights at Thornapple and study scripture. Several Thornapple men attend BSF. Contact Chris Treiber for details at ctreiber@me.com.  

3. Book Club: Interested in joining a book club? We are looking for men interested in forming a second group. The group selects books (non- fiction and novels, faith based and secular) and meets monthly in homes over refreshments to discuss, after reading is completed. Serve

1. Project work teams – construction/ repair work - Possible projects to include: Habitat for Humanity, Family Promise – restoring mobile homes for homeless families, and/or special projects for people in the TEC church family or other needs that arise. Contact Tim Baas at tbaas1@juno.com.  

2. Next Step of West Michigan - exciting newer ministry in Grand Rapids that provides job training and jobs in construction trades for displaced men. Join them for weekly bible study and discover ways we might partner with them to support their work. Contact - Jon Gerard at jgerard27@aol.com.

3. Guiding Light Mission – serving meals or mentoring men in recovery program. Contact – Jon Gerard at jgerard27@aol.com.

4. Prison Ministry – at Richard A. Handlon Correctional Facility – Ionia. Join Randy Vanleeuwen 1st and/or 5th Sunday AM in leading worship. Contact Randy at thevanleeuwens@att.net.  

5. Jail Ministry - Join a team of men who take turns sending pairs of men every 8 weeks to provide a worship service at the Kent County Jail. We bring a word of hope and the Gospel to a place full of pain and frustration. Contact Bob Kingma at bobkingma@comcast.net.
