Offering
Support the ministry and mission of Thornapple through the regular practice of giving generously from the financial resources entrusted to you by God.  
Your financial gifts can be:
  1. Made online through our online giving platform 
  2. Mailed to the church office (6595 Cascade Rd. SE; Grand Rapids, MI 49546)
  3. Given during in-person worship on Sunday mornings

Giving continues to be ahead of budget - we are so grateful for God's provision and the congregation's faithfulness in generosity.

Events

  • VBS 2025 | June 23-26 for fall K-5th grade. Learn more and sign up HERE.
  • Help Decorate for VBS | Free on Monday, June 16 at 10am? We'd love your help setting up/decorating for VBS!  No need to RSVP - just show up and we'll put you to work! Contact Lisa Udell with questions.
  •  Summer Discipleship Journey | This summer we're inviting everyone to join us on a self-guided discipleship journey with the Ten Commandments. Learn more and reserve your LIVE IT UP workbook and a hard copy of Darrell Johnson's book  HERE. Workbooks/books are available in the Lobby.
  • Pastries with the Pastor | Students (note grades below) are invited to stay after worship in the Lower Level MS Room to chat with Pastor Julia about the sermon and get a donut.
    - June 22 | 5th and 6th graders
    - July 27 | 7th and 8th graders
    - August 17 | high schoolers
  • ICCF Backpack Collection | Now through August 3 | We're partnering with ICCF with the goal of collecting 300 backpacks for them to distribute at their annual end-of-summer party in August. There will be a collection bin in the Lobby starting this Sunday, June 8 and we'll be tracking our progress throughout the summer!
  • Thornapple Goes to the Beach | Friday, July 11 starting at 6pm at Kirk Park in West Olive
    Meet us at the Pavillion (look for the Thornapple orange); BYODinner for you and your family; Thornapple will provide popsicles. In case of rain (boo!): We'll have a movie in The Community Center (yay!)
  • Community Center Sports 
    WholyFit (contact Karalyn Tresh: 616-304-0592): Fridays, 9:30-10:30am

Sunday Programming 
Nursery (birth to 3-years-old) and Kingdom Kids (4-years-old to 6th grade) | Everyone checks in the middle Lobby by Door B; nursery age children can be brought downstairs before worship; 4s-6th grade start in worship with families until they are dismissed around 10:20. Parents can pick up children in the Lower Level following worship. The third Sundays of the month, is nursery only, 4-years and older stay for worship in the Sanctuary.
Middle School (7th-8th) & HS Huddle | On summer break until Fall 2025.

Pine Rest Church Assistance Program  
Complimentary counseling (and other programs – just say “I have a CAP with Thornapple Covenant Church” when you call to make an appointment) for you and your family and access to a virtual library of mental health resources (use the password “Thornapple” when prompted). Learn more HERE.

Stephen Ministry
Going through a crisis or having a difficult time? Maybe you could benefit from receiving care in a one-on-one partnership with a trained Stephen Minister. Contact Lynne McLaughlin

Making a Difference

  • Hearts for Sewing | The group meets Noon-3pm the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. The sewing group still needs donations of 100% cotton flannel fabric, or monetary donations for us to purchase these supplies. All donations can be brought to the church office or you can contact Diane Kunkler for more information. Thanks to all who have donated.

  • Foster the Family Info and Volunteer Opportunities | Foster the Family is renting space from Thornapple in our storage space under the Community Center and has volunteer opportunities (noted below) for both individuals and groups. 
    • Deliver clothing, supplies, and a meal to a family welcoming a child
    • Make a meal for a family in need
    • Write a note of encouragement to a caregiver
    • Help at or host an event for our families
    • Help caregivers take a night off by providing/hosting respite care

  • Love hanging out with babies/toddlers? Children’s Ministry could use your help as a Nursery volunteer on Sunday mornings. Please contact Lisa Udell if you are able to help and she we get you on the schedule!
