Offering
Support the ministry and mission of Thornapple through the regular practice of giving generously from the financial resources entrusted to you by God.  
Your financial gifts can be:
  1. Made online through our online giving platform 
  2. Mailed to the church office (6595 Cascade Rd. SE; Grand Rapids, MI 49546)
  3. Given during in-person worship on Sunday mornings

Giving fell below budget in June, and we are now below budget year-to-date.  We are grateful for your generosity, and we continue to count on your faithful giving to God’s work through Thornapple.    

Events

  • Candidate Weekend | August 19-21; Meet Julia Sandstrom Friday evening or Saturday morning (a recording will be available of Friday's Candidate Forum; hear her preach on Sunday morning and attend a Special Business Meeting to vote on calling her to be Thornapple's Teaching Pastor at 11:30am on Sunday, Aug. 21 (the meeting will be both in person and online and proxy/absentee ballots are available at the Welcome Center and online). 
  • Family and Friends of Aging Adults Support Group | Tuesday, August 16, at 7pm at Thornapple. Presenters Angie Gross, Senior Patient Care Liaison, and Kim Brinks, Psychiatric Nurse, from The Care Team will be speaking on “Dealing with Mental Health.” They will also share information on all things related to home care. Following the presentation, there will be a time of discussion and support facilitated by Nick DeBoer, a Pine Rest outpatient therapist.
  • Community Center Sports 
    Volleyball TBA (contact Linda Winer)
     WholyFit (contact Karalyn Tresh: 616-304-0592): Fridays, 9:30-10:30am
  • Family Promise Hosting | Thornapple is hosting families again Sept. 11-18 (and Dec. 26-Jan. 1).  We will need many people and small groups to help by donating items or volunteering.

Teaching Pastor Search
We have a candidate for the Teaching Pastor position - learn more about Julia Sandstrom HERE and plan to attend one of the Candidate Forums next Friday evening or Saturday morning and/or Worship next Sunday, Aug. 21 followed by a Special Business Meeting for members to vote on calling her to be Thornapple's Teaching Pastor.

First Summer Sundays: Outdoor Worship at 10am
Through Sept. 4, we'll have outdoor worship the first Sunday of each summer month. Bring your camp chairs and your family and join us in front of the new stage for worship followed by donuts, coffee, an inflatable slide and fellowship!

Pine Rest Church Assistance Program  
Complimentary counseling (and other programs – just say “I have a CAP with Thornapple Covenant Church” when you call to make an appointment) for you and your family and access to a virtual library of mental health resources (use the password “Thornapple” when prompted). Learn more HERE.

Stephen Ministry
Going through a crisis or having a difficult time? Maybe you could benefit from receiving care in a one-on-one partnership with a trained Stephen Minister. Contact Lynne McLaughlin

Making a Difference

  • ICCF School Supply Drive | On Wednesday, Aug. 17 (note date change) from 5-7pm, ICCF is hosting a back-to-school community event and is in need of items to be donated and volunteers to help at the event. Donations (bring to church office/welcome center) | For teens: Gender-neutral backpacks, pens, pencils, folders, spiral notebooks, binders, fabric pencil case; For elementary children: backpacks, crayon packs, nonpermanent/washable marker packs, pencils, spiral notebooks, folders, plastic pencil case.  Volunteers (email Sheryl Baas to sign up): Face painting (2); sign-in table (2); bounce house monitoring (2, with chair); food serving (2); backpack check in (2) 
  • Love hanging out with babies/toddlers? Children’s Ministry could use your help as a Nursery volunteer on Sunday mornings. Please contact Lisa Udell if you are able to help and she we get you on the schedule!
