Live It Up
A discipleship journey with the Ten Commandments
The Ten Commandments are the most famous list of laws in the world. They are directly given to Moses by God as the people began to organize themselves into a nation. When we think of the Ten Commandments or “God’s law” generally, we often think of restriction. We think of prohibition. We think of loss of freedom.
What if the Ten Commandments were actually meant to give us freedom? What if God was so interested in us enjoying life that he gives us his top ten list on how to do just that? What if God has been doing all along what Jesus says in John 10: “I have come that you might have life, and have it to the full.”? What if God wants us to live it up?
When we read the Ten Commandments in light of a generous, saving, life giving God, we begin to see that these ten commands are for our good. They are for us to live life to the fullest. I invite you on a discipleship journey with the Ten Commandments. It is a journey of growing more aware of how God is for human flourishing, a journey of living it up!
Grace and peace,
Pastor Julia
